Every file is a reconstruction: what the hull broadcast, what the registry recorded, what the courts found — and what it did in between.

AIS Dark reconstructs what a hull did when it stopped transmitting — registry, courts, sanctions and AIS, anchored to the one number that never changes: the IMO.

AMARANT, EX-PRAVASI — IMO 9409467, ONE HULL, FIVE NAMES, TWO BROADCAST IDENTITIES

A tanker under EU and US sanctions stopped broadcasting its Guinea identifier at a Gulf of Suez anchorage on 28 July 2026. Three days later a Russian identifier began transmitting from the same berth, eighty-four metres from the last fix. The registry records the new name a month later and to no better than the month. This piece dates the change from position data instead, and sets out what the registry alone could not have shown.

ANEMON, ATLANT, AZALEA, APEKS, ALYSSUM, AKHILL — SIX PAIRED TRANSITIONS, FIVE MONTHS

Part 6 found one Mumbai manager on all seven of GLOBAL SEAWAY LLC's tankers, and no vessels on its own books today. Part 7 goes back to the month that manager arrived. Six of the seven hulls changed flag to Liberia in the same month Bravo Ship Management or Maritas Fleet took over their safety management — not together, but one at a time across five separate months in 2022. The same shape repeats in 2026, and the second time the flag is Russian.

ANTARES, AZALEA, ANEMON, ALYSSUM, AKHILL, APEKS, ATLANT — ONE FLEET, ONE SHARED PRIOR

Part 6 works backwards from GLOBAL SEAWAY LLC's own seven-hull fleet. All seven passed through Maritas Fleet Pvt Ltd, a Navi Mumbai ISM manager whose own fleet page today returns no vessels at all while the company stays active. Six of the seven also passed through Bravo Ship Management Pvt Ltd — which still manages eleven ordinary bulkers and boxships, none designated. One of the two managers looks like a ship manager. The other looks like the six companies Part 4 already found empty.

NAMES AND FLAGS ARE VOLATILE. EVERY FILE IS ANCHORED TO THE IMO NUMBER — THE ONLY IDENTIFIER THAT SURVIVES THE RECORD.

Every reconstruction starts at the gap. The record below is one hull, one quarter, adjudicated.

FOR COUNSEL

MARITIME LAWYERS

Adjudicated facts and graded evidence, with methodology notes written to be exhibited. We state what the record supports — and plainly what it cannot.

FOR CREDIT DESKS

BUNKER SUPPLIERS

Counterparty diligence before credit is extended: designations, ownership shells, identifier divergence, and the network position of the hull you are fuelling.

FOR UNDERWRITING

P&I & INSURERS

The paperwork collapse before the casualty: class withdrawals, ISM managers recorded as UNKNOWN, detention history, and no-IG-cover signals at fleet scale.

FOR FIXTURES

FINANCE & CHARTERING

Sanctions exposure on the hull, the manager and the vertical — resolved by IMO across every name and flag in the record, not the name on the fixture.

01

ANCHORED TO THE IMO

Names change. Flags change. MMSIs rotate. The IMO number is issued at build and never changes — every file resolves the hull through it.

02

EVERY CLAIM GRADED

A: primary record. B: corroborated reporting. C: reported, limits noted. Advisory identifications are never rendered as designations.
